India’s U-19 Cricket Team Wins ICC U-19 World Cup 2024

The Indian U-19 cricket team lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup trophy for a record fifth time, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by 45 runs in a tense final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The victory is a testament to India’s dominance in youth cricket and the depth of talent in the country’s cricketing ecosystem.

India batted first and posted a competitive total of 268/8 in their 50 overs, thanks to a captain’s knock of 89 from opener Aryan Desai and a quick-fire 45 from middle-order batsman Ravi Singh. Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by Shaheen Afridi Jr., kept India in check, but crucial partnerships ensured that India posted a challenging target.

In response, Pakistan struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack, led by left-arm spinner Devendra Kumar, who took 4/27. Pakistan’s top order collapsed early, and despite a fighting 62 from captain Abdullah Khan, they were bowled out for 223 in 48 overs.

Indian captain Aryan Desai was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding contributions with both bat and leadership. “It’s an unbelievable feeling to win the World Cup for India. The entire team worked hard, and we believed in each other. This victory is for all the fans back home,” Desai said after the match.

The win further cements India’s reputation as a dominant force in world cricket, with a steady pipeline of young talent ready to make their mark on the international stage.
